Salts Mill

I have a friend who has a list of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites and ticks them off as she travels.  I’m not quite that anal – but I do like the idea of Heritage Sites, they way they can be natural as well as man-made, and I like the way that they’re preserved.

They’re also normally places that I want to visit when I’m travelling. That said – I do like the fact that it’s not just the big sights/sites that UNESCO lists.  I love that the West Cornwall Mining District is listed – I used to run around the mine stacks as a kid when I was out hiking, and loved them before I was ever aware that they were “heritage” – and I think it’s awesome that the organisation recognises that kind of thing as well as the Toledos and Ngorogoro Craters of the world.
