Hannah is pretty happy being an amateur photographer. She would like to be better at photography and have more time to practice (which, for her, equates to more time to travel), but she’s not sure she would enjoy the pressure of being a photographer full-time. She very much likes it being her ‘bit on the side’ as she starts trying to carve out a career in academia, and thinks it keeps her from overbalancing into the life of an academic hermit.
Hannah mostly shoots with a Canon Eos 400-D and a Canon Ixy 25 IS, but is developing a collection of lomo-style cameras which she likes to take out to play with quite often (and if anyone can recommend a company that processes its 110 cartridge films in the UK, she’d be very grateful). She’s also just invested in a Flip video camera and is learning to play with that. You can see some of the results here.
This section showcases a selection of her photography. The complete archieve can be found at flickr. She has also produced four ‘blurb’ photo books, of Paris, Bulgaria, Tanzania and one of Japan (this last currently unavailable, but if you’re interested, please ask).
