Seriously? Guns? Do big businesses really go round shooting at crusading journalists in the States? The absolute genius of the original BBC series (apart from, y’know, John Simm, David Morissey, Bill Nighy et al) was that it was realistic. The girl went in front of a tube, and therefore could have committed suicide. The threat to the paper was of censorship, and the occasional arrested journalist, on the assumption that was frankly bad enough. And that’s before we get to how deeply uncomfortable Rachel McAdams and Ben Affleck look.
Oh Kevin McDonald. Why did you make this your next film. I liked all your others. This. Well, I’m going to hole up with lots of cookies and watch the original again instead.
